Spring 2019: must-have fashion trends

Here are the four key trends for this season, from the new interpretations of denim to the nostalgia for the 90s fashion. Updating your wardrobe starts here and now!

Denim Statement

Denim-lovers will be thrilled to find out that their favourite fabric becomes the star of this spring. You will find it in collections with new colors, unexpected details, and very modern cuts, that give a new touch to clothes that would otherwise be casual: blouses with large denim sleeves, flared denim dresses, comfy denim overalls, large skirts made of soft denim, and, mostly, low rise large jeans. These are also the ones we recommend: they can be worn with simple cotton T-shirts, v-neck sweaters, but also with shirts made of silk, linen blouses or masculine coats. This goes with sandals with architectural heels (be it spiral, sphere or rhombus).

Our recommendations:
Jogger jeans with pockets, Zara: 129,90 lei | large cropped jeans, Zara: 149,90 lei | denim dress with a tie-dye print, Mango: 199,90 lei | denim overalls Mango: 249,90 lei | culottes jeans, Mango: 159,90 lei | denim shirt dress, Mango: 179,90 lei | denim overalls, BSB: 296,10 lei | maxi large skirt, BSB: 263,20 lei | simple jeans jacket, H&M: 129,90 lei | wide fit pants, Massimo Dutti: 289,00

Rubiginous hues

Even if Living Coral was crowned color of 2019, the burnt hues, dark, exotic, derived from orange are those that you will find all over the spring-summer collections: tile-coloured, rubiginous, terracotta, tobacco brown, paprika red, yellow with an amber hue, ochre yellow, saffron yellow, but also the color of bronze, of honey, of caramel, of Moroccan condiments! Full of energy, sophisticated and warm, these rich hues are the new neutral colors of this summer. They can be matched with many colors from your closet – from white, beige, navy blue, rosy pink, to cobalt blue, olive green, violet, cherry, pink fuchsia, turquoise and animal print. For a day time outfit, try a cherry dress fitted with snake print sandals or a rosy top matched with Cognac colored pants.

The 90’s nostalgia

Pants that look like those of a tracking suit with a braid in stripes, the tie-dye print, midi satin skirts with a biais cut, fanny packs, pre-washed denim, sandals with tiny straps, square tip and medium heels: these are only some of the ongoing trends that originated in the 90s. Combining them in a single outfit is not recommended, the final look might seem outdated! However, make one vintage-looking item the central element of the outfit and keep the rest of it as simple and as classic as you can. One last thing, which is important to remember: if you approach the trend inspired by the 90s, don’t use pearlescent lipstick, silver or blue eyeshadow, and don’t use large hair pins or retro headbands!

Our recommendations:
Acid wash pre-washed jeans, Zara: 199,90 lei | satin skirt with a biais cut, Zara: 129,90 lei | tie-dye skirt, Zara: 89,90 lei | blue tie-dye dress, Zara: 199,90 lei | tie-dye shirt, Mango: 199,90 lei | denim cycling shorts, Mango: 119,90 lei | denim overalls, H&M: 159,90 lei | pre-washed denim jacket, H&M: 139,90 lei

Utility Chic

The military style and the details inspired by military uniforms and workers’ outfits reappear on the catwalks and in collections every spring. They’re practical, aesthetically agreeable (what color doesn’t match with beige or olive green) and they’re available in so many stylistic versions that they cover all the possible styles: from elegant to casual, from modern to retro. Utility chic means comfy shirt dresses, with big pockets and large belts, overalls that have buttons from top to bottom, cargo pants (with pockets on the sides), shirts with rolled-up sleeves.

Our recommendation is to invest in at least two items included in this trend because you’ll be wearing them many seasons from now. One possibility would be a loose cut overalls, with pockets, that can be also used during the winter (with the proper layering). You can wear this with sneakers, but also with heels (shoes or buskins).

Our recommendations:
Linen shirt dress with belt, Zara: 199,90 lei | olive green tacking suit pants, Zara: 149,90 lei | utility linen shirt, H&M: 99,90 lei | utility vest, Massimo Dutti: 579,00 lei | military culottes, Zara: 129,90 lei | utility overalls, BSB: 423,00 lei | olive green cargo jeans, Zara: 149,90 lei | overalls, Zara: 149,90 lei | brown overalls, Zara: 199,90 lei | utility linen skirt with belt, Zara: 199,90 lei | utility vest, Zara: 199,90 lei | long beige overalls, Mango: 249,90 lei | beige utility dress, Mango: 199,90 lei | kaki overalls, Mango: 249,90 lei | parka jacket, BSB: 296,10 lei | military shirt, H&M: 129,90 lei | chino pants, H&M: 89,90 lei | kaki utility dress, Massimo Dutti: 579,00 lei | cargo pants, Massimo Dutti: 399,00 lei
