Female characters and personas in the romanian literature

Courage, beauty, strength, determination, love – these are just a few words that can describe the women we celebrate each and every day. In March, with the days dedicated to women all around the world, together with the National Museum of Romanian Literature and the Youth Center of Bucharest, we invite you to discover the exhibition “FEMALE CHARACTERS AND PERSONAS IN THE ROMANIAN LITERATURE”, from March 1 to 14.

Discover strong, charming, captivating and mysterious woman across the romanian literature. Get inspired by or rediscover the female characters who will cross our threshold: Anișoara from the short story “Cântecul lebedei” by Liviu Rebreanu, Chira Chiralina from Panait Istrati’s work, Corina from “Jocul de-a vacanța” by Mihail Sebastian, Miss Hus and Miss Ri, imagined by Ion Barbu and, respectively, Matei Vişniec. Meet the mysterious Mrs. T and Ela, both characters created by Camil Petrescu, or Evantia, the exotic and beautiful woman from Jean Bart’s Europolis novel, Irina from Marin Sorescu’s Matca and last but not least, with “the first capitalist woman in our literature”, as Nicolae Manolescu defined Mara, the character created by Ioan Slavici.

We are waiting for you on March 1-14, in Bucharest Mall-Vitan, to get to know them, to find out their authentic way of thinking, beliefs and dreams, only at the “Characters and female presences in Romanian literature” exhibition.
